For actors, particular roles make a huge difference in their careers. Kind of like that special moment when you know that you belong. For Mike Whaley, that milestone role was playing Malick in the Stephen King series Under the Dome.

Malick was a reoccurring character in the CBS series, and seemingly the lead member of the group of guards working for Aktaion Energy.

Not much was known about the character before he joined the cast in season 2, apart from the fact that he worked for the energy company.

Malick is first seen when the character Big Jim askes another soldier to see their leader, which is Malick.

Whaley slotted right into that character with ease, having played many roles in law enforcement in the past.

Working on Under The Dome, based on the Steven King novel with Steven Spielberg as Executive producer, is a dream job for a new actor in the industry. “To be able to work alongside talent that has decades worth of experience is immeasurable,” said Whaley on working on the series.

The science-fiction thriller kept fans on the edge of their seats for 3 seasons. Season 1 and 2 focused on the characters and the mysteries of the Dome and the powers of the egg, and Season 3 went about answering all the questions and solving the puzzles they were waiting for.

Since his role in Under The Dome which finally aired in 2015, Whaley has been involved in other TV series projects including the Crackle original series The Oath, Saints, and Sinners and The Outsider.

Apart from his extensive commercial projects, which are still ongoing, Whaley has moved into the big screen with 2020 releases hopefully gracing our screens soon. With his list of movie titles under his belt growing every longer, he is definitely a talent to keep a watch out for.
